How it looks on your device
The glyph above is rendered by your own operating system or browser, so it may look slightly different on Windows, Android or iOS - that's normal, each platform ships its own emoji artwork for the same underlying character.
What it means
The most ambiguous face in the set. Taken literally it is a polite, mild smile. In practice it is very often passive-aggressive, a mask over annoyance, or dead-eyed "I am fine". Younger users almost never mean it sincerely.
How people use it
- Polite acknowledgement (sincere, usually from older users)
- Forced calm ("the build broke again π")
- Subtle sarcasm or suppressed irritation
Examples
- no it's fine π
- they moved the deadline to tomorrow π
- sounds good π
Good to know
If you want to sound warm, use π instead. π can read as cold or sarcastic even when you did not mean it to.
